Harrison County Conservation Board (HCCB)
Harrison County provides guests with many opportunities for outdoor recreation including, but not limited to, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting and camping. The Harrison County Conservation Board owns approximately 1,800 acres in 18 different units throughout the county. Loess Hills State Forest
The Loess Hills State Forest also provides guests many opportunities for adventure. This approximately 11,800 ac. of Loess Hills wilderness has many trails that are great for hiking, hunting or bird gazing. This ground is managed by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources whose headquarters is located in the Brent S. Olson Memorial Visitor Center in Pisgah, IA. DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge
The DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge is a great location for observing migratory birds from within the confines of the visitor center or from your own vehicle. This is also the location of the Steamboat Bertrand museum which houses over 250,000 artifacts. There are also day use areas at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge including a swim beach.
